Release from seizure of a vehicle
This service is intended for the owner whose road vehicle has been seized for a violation of the Highway Safety Code or the Criminal Code and who, for a valid reason, wishes to ask to be returned to possession of his vehicle before the end of the entry period.
The duration of the seizure depends on the seriousness of the offense committed, and can be 7, 30 or 90 days. The release of the seizure can be requested administratively, ie from the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec, or by judicial process, ie from a judge of the Court of Québec.
If the release of the seizure is granted to you, you will have to make an appointment with the representative of the pound in order to pay the costs of towing and custody of the vehicle. The vehicle will then be returned to you.
The vehicle owner is given only one opportunity to request the release of vehicle seizure. Thus, in the event that the release is refused, the vehicle validated to be seized for 7, 30 or 90 days, depending on the case.
If you wish to repossess your vehicle before said end of seizure, contact us to determine if your file is eligible for a request for release from seizure.
